Urszula Kropiwiec

Urszula Kropiwiec completed her master’s degree in French and Spanish philology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, a city in which she has had the opportunity to work with several institutions: 1991 – 1994, at the International Cultural Centre; 1994 – 1996, she ran the European Mozart Academy; 1997 – 1999, she was the director of the Villa Decius Association. From 1999 until 2014, Urszula Kropiwiec was head of the liaison office of the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia in Poland. In 2005, it became the representative regional office of Central and Eastern Europe and was moved from Cracow to Warsaw. She became managing director of the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw in May of 2015. She is also a literary translator from French and Spanish into Polish, not to mention an organizer of literature and translation festivals, workshops, conferences, and seminars.

Urszula Kropiwiec has many years of experience in managing cultural institutions as well as in project management and in the coordination of cultural and artistic programs at the local (municipal), national, and international level. Since the early 90s, she has been committed to the professionalization of the cultural sector in Poland as well as in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, in intercultural dialogue, and in the development of international cultural contacts.
