Open Call For Iranian and Bangladeshi Artists

Pathshala and Kooshk Residency present an exchange program between Tehran and Dhaka for two Bangladeshi and two Iranian visual artists. This exchange program exists out of two parts. The first part is held in June, 2018 in Tehran, Iran.

During a residency of one month, the Bangladeshi artists will have the opportunity to work in Tehran within the international residency community. They will be introduced to the Iranian art scene, be invited to gallery openings and meet the artists. The program will start with a presentation and will end with an open studio.

The second part will be held during February 2019 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. the Iranian artists will have the opportunity to work in Dhaka and collaborate with the Bangladeshi artists. During these four weeks, the space will be open to a local public of artists, students, and art critics. As this side of program in Dhaka will be simultaneous by Chobimela Festival , Iranian artists will be present there and will have their open studio works watched by a wide audience.

The application is open for visual artists from Bangladesh and Iran, interested in site-specific practices and the socio-cultural context of both countries. Applicants have to be interested in exchanging ideas and consider the participation in both parts of the projects. Applicants will be evaluated by a committee of the organizers mentioned above and will be informed by e-mail.

For the Iranian artists, accommodation (shared room) and studio space for period of one month in Dhaka will be provided by Pathshala. All the expenses for airfare, insurance, medical coverage for the duration of the program, any visa fee and the living expenses such as travel and food will be by the artist himself.

Program for Bangladeshi artists also includes: accommodation (a shared room) and studio space for period of their stay in Tehran that will be provided by Kooshk Residency.
