Open Call For Iranian and Mexican Artists

Kooshk Residency  and Arquetopia present a new exchange program between Iran and Mexico for one Mexican and one Iranian artist, active in fields of visual arts. This exchange program exists out of two parts. The first part is held from 1-30 September, 2017 in Puebla, Mexico.

During a residency of one month, the Iranian artist has the opportunity to work in Puebla and collaborate with the Mexican artist. Arquetopia will be responsible for providing accommodation, meals, utilities and housekeeping, weekly meetings with our staff for individualized research assistance/resources, project guidance, and critiques; studio space; and some tools. Arquetopia will also include the artist in the “Open Process Program” and other outreach programs, by organizing an artist talk, workshop or any other kind of public event.

The second part will be held from 1-30 November, 2017 in Tehran, Iran. The Mexican artist will have the opportunity to work in Tehran, Iran within our international residency community. During these four weeks, the artist will be introduced to the Iranian art scene, be invited to gallery openings and meet Iranian artists. Kooshk will also provide accommodation, studio space, meals, logistical support of the artist’s scheme through the duration of the residency. The program will start with a presentation and end with an open studio.

The application is open for visual artists from Mexico and Iran. Applicants have to be interested in exchanging ideas and consider the participation in both parts of the projects. Applicants will be evaluated by a committee of the organizers mentioned above and will be informed by e-mail.

All the expenses for airfare, insurance, medical coverage for the duration of the program, any visa fee and the living expenses such as travel will be by the artists themselves.
