In May 2018, we had the honor to hold the fourth edition of Kooshk Artist Residency Award (KARA2018), with participation of the awarded artists Karola Braga from Barzil, Eric Peter from the Netherlands and Marc Vilanova Pinyol from spain. These 3 artists were selected from more than 140 applications from almost 40 different countries and by the international team of jury, in two different rounds (consisting of Aysha Waja – Curator at Bag Factory, Gemma Sharpe – PhD Candidate Art History, Giulio Verago – Cultural Operator and Project Manager of VIR Viafarini, Jennifer Lindsay – Residency Director at Red Gate Residency in Round one and Danda Jaroljmek – Director of Circle Art Gallery, Nairobi, Kenya and Administrator for The African Arts, Ehsan Rasoulof – Director and Founder of Kooshk Residency, Heejung Park – Manager of MMCA Residency Changdong, run by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, Iftikhar Dadi – Associate Professor in Department of History of Art, Cornell University and Jean-Baptiste Joly – Director of Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, Germany)
In the first days, they visited different art and culture related places in Tehran. They had tan artist talk to presented their works to the local audience on May 08, 2018.
Marc Vilanova’s workshop, “Composing – Performing – Visualization of Sound” gathered arts and music enthusiasts in Darbast Platform on May 22, 2018.
On May 25, 2018 and at the end of their stay, their open studio event was held in Building No.134.
